[edit] Rule 1: There are no secrets from the GM.
The GM WILL Know what is on your character sheet, and if it is not on your character sheet, it does not exist. If your character has strong motivations, a life long passion, some driving goal, skeletons in the closet, special magical items that he or she inherited as an heirloom, the GM will know about it. If the character is a member of any organization, the GM will know about it.
If the GM does not know about it, then it does not exist.
If you do not understand the reason for this rule, then think very carefully, and read the introduction to almost any RPG book. Especially pay attention to the rules about the GM’s role in a game.

[edit] Rule 2: Social Skill Checks are for NPC’s
Unless the GM specifically authorizes it, you will NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES use a skill check to force another player to behave in the manner which you desire.
While the rules do not specifically spell out that social skill checks and the like are for use on NPC’s, using them on players is ultimately damaging to the game table environment.
It’s not good.
