[edit] Warrior

The warrior is a staple in every campaign setting. They are the combat expert, the man at arms, the masters of all things martial. Warriors come from all walks of life, and all cultures. As such they have a great diversity. There is more to them than simply being able to kill things.

Almost every adventuring group has at least one warrior, and they will often fill one of a few roles. Some fighters will be more geared towards taking damage, and others will be more geared towards dishing it out. You also meet the occasional fighter that is more well rounded. They are good at avoiding damage, but can take a hit if the need arises.

In the Tweak RPG system the Warrior class comes with built in customizability. Starting from level 1 you can start to optimize your Warrior towards speed or brute strength. Throughout his progression you will be given options to make him better at taking, avoid, or dealing damage. What kind of Warrior are you? Are you a Sword and Board fighter, choosing to go toe to toe with the fiercest of foes? Are you an agile and cunning martial artist, preferring to depend on raw instinct and your enemies own anger?

[edit] Class Features

[edit] Improved Unarmed Strike

At first level the Warrior is given his first choice of paths. He may choose to take Improved Unarmed Strike in place of one of his starting Weapon Groups. This feat makes turns the Warriors very arms and legs into weapons.

[edit] Enhanced Combat Awareness

Some warriors, through arduous training, or simple instinct, are hyper aware of their own bodies, and the conditions around them. Some few have their awareness of their own bodies heightened to the extent that they can feel the temperature differences and vibrations on their skin that others cannot. A few have honed this skill to the extent that they can use it in combat, almost like a sixth sense. Warriors who choose this path may add their Wisdom score to their armor class, so long as they are conscious an wearing no armor to hinder their senses.

[edit] Evasion (Ex)

At 2nd level the Warrior may substitute Evasion for one of his Armor proficiencies. With Evasion, if the Warrior makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if a warrior is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless warrior does not gain the benefit of evasion.

[edit] Fast Movement

Periodically the Warriors training will help him to increase the speed with which he can move. At these levels the warrior may choose to increase his base movement by 10 feet. Each time the Warrior takes this ability, it stacks.

[edit] Battle Hardened

Starting at fifth level, and every odd level thereafter, the warrior gains access to the Battle Hardened class feature. Each time he or she takes this feature they may choose an ability from the following list:

Ragged Endurance: The rigors of battle have made the warrior much more durable than most others. He gains 1d8+CON to his maximum hitpoints.
Thick Skin: This represents his body becoming hardened against the rigors of combat and the environment. Each time he gains this ability, his natural damage resistance is increased by 2.
Focused Damage: The warrior gains a +2 Damage bonus on attacks made with weapons from one weapon group that the character is proficient with. Each time the warrior takes this ability, he must choose a weapon group. He can choose the same group more than once or a different group every time. This ability stacks with itself and with other abilities increasing weapon efficiency.
Combat Senses: This ability represents the warriors increased understanding of the battlefield. Each time this happens he gains a +1 experience bonus to his armor class.

[edit] Bonus Feats

Starting at level 1, level 2 and then every two warrior levels after that, the warrior gains a bonus feat. This feat is drawn from those feats that are designated as Warrior Feats.

[edit] Notes

  • Warrior Feats are currently listed as Fighter Feats. Once the kinks are worked out, this class will likely replace the fighter class and the monk class, at which point it may get renamed to fighter, or it may retain the name warrior.
  • The Improved Unarmed Strike feat has been modified to make it more Monk like by itself.
  • The various Ki Strike abilities will become a chain of feats.
  • Improved Unarmed Strike -> Martial Strike (Magic) -> Martial Strike (Law/Chaos) -> Martial Strike (Good/Evil)
  • Neutral characters of course will have to choose one or the other (Law or Chaos, Good or Evil).
  • The Various Body related Monk Abilities will become a feat chain.
  • Greater Proprioception -> Purity of Body -> Wholeness of Body
  • Greater Proprioception -> Purity of Body -> Diamond Body
  • Evasion -> Improved Evasion
  • Slow Fall and Abundant Step may fit in somewhere.
