[edit] Armor

Armor is vital to a character’s survival. It provides physical protection against the rigors of combat. More specifically it helps to reduce damage and in some exceptional cases will even provide a bonus to AC.

For simplicity’s sake, armor is divided into four categories:

  • Light Armor
  • Medium Armor
  • Heavy Armor
  • Shields

Each of these is represented by a respective feat:

  • Armor Proficiency (Light)
  • Armor Proficiency (Medium)
  • Armor Proficiency (Heavy)
  • Shield Proficiency

Which category a piece of armor belongs in will be included as part of the description for each piece of equipment.

[edit] Armor Proficiency

Benefit

When you wear a type of armor with which you are proficient, the armor check penalty for that armor applies only to Balance, Climb, Escape Artist, Hide, Jump, Move Silently, Sleight of Hand, and Tumble checks.

Normal

A character who is wearing armor with which she is not proficient applies its armor check penalty to attack rolls and to all skill checks that involve moving, including Ride.
