Vasvyrae began her life as a young Human girl, living in a small farming community out in the expansive countryside surrounding the larger cities. It was the sort of village that only made trips to the city once in a long while. Her name was a Human name then, though she and all those who might have known it have passed from the Mortal world. Vasvyrae herself forgot her true name long before her death, and the process began during her 14th year of life.

What had been a time of peace and pleasant monotony for the young girl became drowned in death and blood, and foretold the coming of creatures alien in nature and appearance to the mortal elves and men of the world. Her village and family destroyed by the rampaging subterranean armies that ravaged the land, the Mortal Vasvyrae, who was beautiful and pleasing to the eye, was brought back to the ancient, darkened cities of the Orog.

It is said that long ago the Orog lived among the other races, and were a peace-loving people, at one with nature. If this was true, these beliefs have long since been corrupted, transforming the people into a hard-hearted, manipulative people, who bent the laws of nature to their own ends. Vasvyrae, now a prisoner, was sold into servitude of the Vyll, a title given to the leader of those Orog talented in the arcane arts, yet no ties to the spiritual sects. At first, Vasvyrae was merely a slave, cleaning the Vyll quarters, cooking his food, and doing other such menial tasks. However, she could not escape the Vyll's notice for long, and her duties were soon expanded to cover other activities.

After many years, the young human girl that had been stolen into slavery slowly died, and the seeds of a dark and insidious woman were sown. Using her place at The Vyll's side, and in his bed, Vasvyrae began to learn much of the Orog's ancient magics and alchemy, schooling herself during her short times alone. It wasn't even a full year's time before she perfected her techniques, and surpassed the Vyll in both skill and power. Using her new abilities, she usurped control of the Vyll's mind, reversing their roles as slave and master, and securing herself nigh unlimited resources to continue her research. Over the years, her experience and proficiency with Orog Alchemy grew to the point that she could alter the very physical form of lesser creatures.

It was at this time that Vasvyrae was born, when the human girl who had began as a lowly slave used her knowledge of magic and alchemy to transform her body, and extend her life. She then began her life in the shadow of Orog society, carrying out her will through her 'Masters', who changed as time wore on they succumbed to old age or weakness. Stories among the Orog communities began to circulate about the creature disguised as a woman who moved through the ruling caste of their cities, devouring the minds of Orog men and even women, and bringing death to those that displeased her at the hands of hideous, deformed monstrosities that emerged from the depths of the marshes and disappeared just as quickly.

Nearly 600 hundred years after Vasvyrae transformed her body, she mysteriously disappeared into the depths of the Marsh. Though she had managed to lengthen her life, her mind was still Human, and the woman she had become demanded more and more power. So, in a desperate attempt, Vasvyrae attempted to 'fuse' herself to the marsh. In reality, she merely dissolved her body, effectively killing herself. However, her legacy in the shadow of the leaders of the Orog did not fade so quickly, and before long, estranged sects of the Orog began worshiping her as a malevolent spirit, and as the cult grew, Vasvyrae once again became aware of the Mortal world, though not as a part of it, but above it.
