IYW/Sophaltum
From NexusCrossing
[edit] Background
In life, Sophaltum was a poor man. He came from a poor family, and while those youths who inhabited his neighborhood often turned to bitterness or outright hatred because of this status, this man instead felt an emptiness. He saw those richer, stronger, or just plain better than he was and couldn't understand why. Why was his consciousness the one bound to this insignificant form?
Seeking answers, he traveled out of his home city and became a hermit in the most secluded mountain he could find. There he lived from age 12 to 136, every day spent pondering his questions and philosophizing the answers. What binds a vessel to its fate? Why does the vessel exist in the first place? Why does fate exist? Does anything exist at all?
Eventually he discovered the Truth. This Truth could not be understood by a mere mortal, and yet he could understand it, and so he was not mortal. This revelation came just as his eyes blinked back open to reveal all of creation stretched out before him. His mortality had been stripped away as his mind raced forward past all rank of wealth or strength or intelligence.
His singular purpose in life fulfilled, he wondered what he would do now. He was a deity; and that was interesting. Maybe he should do something godly. Taking the form of the utter Truth as he knew it to be, his divine body shaped itself into futility - pure manifest knowledge that everything had no purpose or greater meaning.
- "It's time to spread the bleak word of existence."
